Meghan Markle caught a stray.
The Duchess of Sussex, 43, was mocked for a strange act she does in her Netflix lifestyle series during a “Trivia Night” segment on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” Monday.
Fallon’s sidekick, Steve Higgins, appeared in the segment and asked the 50-year-old late-night host, “What is the number one question that mystifies scientists? Number one question.”
Fallon guessed, “Is there life on another planet?”
“Oh, no,” said Higgins, 61. He then revealed the answer: “Why does Meghan Markle make her own pretzel bags? They don’t know why.”
The entire audience, as well as Fallon himself, laughed at the joke about Markle.
“That’s interesting,” Fallon said. “She takes it from one bag and puts it in another bag, and that confuses people.”
In a scene from “With Love, Meghan,” Markle transfers pre-packaged pretzels from Trader Joe’s into a personalized bag for her guest and friend, makeup artist Daniel Martin.
“This, we’re just going to put into a different bag,” she says about the Trader Joe’s Peanut Butter Pretzel Nuggets.
Markle adds, “I know that Daniel loves peanut butter but I’m going to label this anyway, you always want to be conscious if someone has a nut allergy.”
After personalizing the small bag with the pretzels, Markle says, “I’m packing this all up so I can take it home and prep the guest room.”
The mom of two was mocked online for the pretzel scene after the show came out March 4.
“I’m so glad Meghan Markle has a new show on Netflix where I can watch her take pretzels out of a labeled bag and put them into a new bag…then label it. The people’s Martha Stewart!” one viewer wrote on X.
Another person said Markle “transferred pretzels from one bag into another like she was splitting the atom.”
“‘I have seen hostage videos with more entertainment,’ I announced to my husband after Markle poured store-bought pretzels into a canister and tied a bow around it,” a different fan tweeted.
“With Love, Meghan” shows the former actress offering a “how-to guide” for entertaining at home in Montecito, California.
The series earned lower viewership numbers than 2022’s “Harry and Meghan” and was slammed by critics, who called it “an exercise in narcissism.”
However, Netflix renewed the show for a second season. The Sussexes signed a $100 million deal with the streamer in 2020.
Like Fallon, other celebs have weighed in on Markle’s venture into the lifestyle business with her show and brand As Ever — including Goop founder Gwyneth Paltrow.
“Everybody deserves an attempt at everything that they want to try,” the “Iron Man” actress, 52, said in her new Vanity Fair April 2025 cover story.
Paltrow added of Markle, “I’ve met Meghan, who seems really lovely, but I don’t know her at all.”
