Did Meghan Markle say yes to an allegedly stolen dress?
The $1,695 designer one-shouldered gown that Prince Harry’s other half wore in a new promo video for her upcoming Netflix holiday special was the same one she sported — and allegedly pilfered — during a Variety photoshoot a few years ago, according to a report from NewsNation’s Paula Froelich.
In the Instagram clip Markle posted for “With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration,” which drops on Dec. 3, the Duchess of Sussex is seen sporting the emerald green Galvan “Ushuaia” ensemble, catching the eyes of viewers familiar with the history of the infamous frock.
Markle donned the dress in 2022 when she graced Variety’s cover.
In 2024, journalist Vanessa Grigoriadis revealed on Andrew Gold’s “Heretics” podcast that Markle allegedly did not return “a lot of stuff” after she “wore it in a very high-profile photo shoot,” referring to the Variety photo session.
“What’s shocking about hearing these kinds of alleged stories is that somebody who is living in a $15 million plus mansion in Montecito, who’s just had $100 million deals, would care enough to take home some jewelry and clothes from a photoshoot that she can clearly afford,” Grigoriadis, a contributing writer at The New York Times magazine and Vanity Fair, said on the podcast.
Markle’s rep did not return a request for comment.
“I love the holiday season,” Markle can be heard saying in the opening of the just-released trailer for the holiday special. “It’s about finding time to connect with the people we love, embracing traditions and making new ones.”
In the clip, she can even be seen sneaking a kiss with her other half, Prince Harry.
