The Martha Stewart on “SNL” campaign starts now.
The famous homemaker, 83, appeared on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” Monday and expressed desire to host “Saturday Night Live” — after she was robbed of the opportunity 20 years ago.
Stewart revealed that after she was released from prison in 2005, she was offered the chance to host the sketch comedy show.
“I wanted to, and they asked me as I was coming out of Alderson, that camp I was in for a while,” Stewart recalled.
“And my parole officer wouldn’t give me the time to do it,” she explained. “That bastard! I still have his name and his number.”
Stewart admitted that she’s still “so pissed” about the situation, but noted that “maybe some day” it will happen.
“You’d be a fantastic host,” Fallon, 50, told Stewart.
“Oh I would. I’d be amazing,” she agreed, as the audience laughed and cheered.
“Start a campaign,” Stewart told Fallon.
The famous entrepreneur was sent to Alderson Federal Prison Camp in 2004 for charges related to conspiracy and obstruction of justice for her role in a stock trading scandal.
Stewart served five months behind bars before her release, after which she staged an unexpected career comeback.
She detailed her prison stay in her 2024 Netflix documentary series “Martha.”
“Physical exam, stripped of all clothes. Squat, arms out, cough — embarrassing,” she wrote in a personal letter given to filmmaker R. J. Cutler about her first 150 days at Alderson.
“I had to do all that crap that you see in the movies. You can’t even believe that that’s what you’re going through,” Stewart said on camera.
On “The Tonight Show,” Fallon pointed out that Stewart is “one of the most impersonated people” on “SNL.” She’s been portrayed by nine different stars on the show including Ana Gasteyer, Kate McKinnon, Amy Poehler, David Spade, Chloe Fineman and Rachel Dratch.
“He’s my favorite. David’s my favorite,” Stewart said about Spade, 60. “He was wearing my poncho. The real poncho.”
Stewart also confirmed she enjoys being impersonated on the show.
“I love it. Imitation is the highest form of flattery,” she said. “You might as well be imitated.”
“SNL” is currently in its milestone 50th season, which has featured A-list hosts including Ariana Grande, Michael Keaton, John Mulaney, Charli XCX, Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle and Timothée Chalamet.
To celebrate the show’s anniversary, NBC also released the “SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night” documentary on Peacock that delves into the long history of the series.
