KEVIN!
Though Macaulay Culkin played the lovable misfit Kevin in the classic Christmas movie βHome Alone,β the actorβs 3-year-old son believes he is the iconic character that his dad portrayed.
Culkin, 44, and his fiancΓ©e Brenda Song, 36, share two sons, Dakota, 3, and a 2-year-old whose name the couple has not revealed. The βHome Aloneβ star recently told E! that his boys are such big fans of the movie, which propelled him to fame, that Dakota has mixed up some of his memories with events in the film.
βHe thinks heβs Kevin,β Culkin told the outlet.
βIβm like, βDo you remember going down the stairs on the sled?β Heβs like, βMmhmm, yep. Sure do.β Iβm like, βDo you remember when he had yellow hair?β And heβs like, βUh-huh, yep.’β
Dakota even believes he battled the movieβs bad guys, Marv and Harry, who attempted to break into the McCallister family home.
Dakota told his dad that he βfought the burglars,β prompting Culkin to school his toddler.
ββYouβre a lying liar who lies. That was me!ββ the actor recalled joking to his son.
And while his kids are big fans of the film, Culkin has to help them follow the plot.
βThey canβt really follow the storyline soΒ I kind of told them the story as it goes,β he shared.
The βAmerican Horror Storyβ star added that itβs understandable his kids donβt realize itβs their dad in the movie.
βIβm a lot taller now. I have a lot more body hair,β he quipped. βBut yeah, that was actually me.β
Culkinβs nephew and niece, on the other hand, have not seen βHome Alone.β Macaulayβs brother, Kieran, 42, who also stars in the flick, believes the movie might be too βscaryβ for his daughter Kinsey, 5, and son Wilder, 3.
βThereβs still some scary parts,β the βSuccessionβ actor said recently. βFor the 3-year-old, thereβs the tarantula [and] thereβs the guy at the end who said, βIβm gonna bite off all your fingers.β Thatβs scary for a 3-year-old.β
However, Kieran also shared that this might be the Christmas season when he finally shows the holiday flick to the kids.
βWe think they might be ready forΒ βHome AloneβΒ this year,β he revealed. βIf not, next year.β
Kieranβs brother is βembracingβ the beloved seasonal movie as of late despite previously having trouble liking the film.
βIβm kind of embracingΒ it and, at the same time, taking the piss out of it, too,β he told E! this week. βItβs very rare when you have something that kind of encompasses an important day, and Iβm a part of that. Itβs more fun to embrace it than to fight it.β
