Lily-Rose Depp has revealed which of her dad Johnny Depp’s famous films left her “traumatized” as a child.
In a new interview with Harper’s Bazaar, the “Nosferatu” star, 25, said she watched her famous dad’s movies as a child, but one in particular has stuck with her for years — the 1990 hit film “Edward Scissorhands.”
“I was traumatized by it,” she told the outlet. “Not because I thought he was scary, but because everyone was being so mean to him and I got really upset.”
The film, directed by Tim Burton, centers around an unfinished humanoid who boasts scissor blades for hands.
The three-time Academy Award nominee shares Lily-Rose with his ex Vanessa Paradis. The former couple are also parents to son Jack, 22.
For her part, Lily-Rose has followed in her father’s footsteps after launching a successful acting career in her own right.
The actress already boasts several impressive credits to her name, including “Tusk,” “The Idol,” and “Nosferatu.”
She stars in the gothic film alongside Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, Willem Defoe and Bill Skarsgård.
Speaking about her latest onscreen venture, Lily-Rose said she boasts a similar interest in supernatural films just like her dad.
“I guess you could say so,” she told the outlet. “We’re very different actors, but of course you’re the product of your environment, and it’s a world I’ve always been very interested in.”
“I’m interested in the darker underbelly of things. As an actor, you hope that your role will be as meaty as can be, so you have as much to dive into as possible,” she went on. “The most exciting thing is getting to explore parts of myself.”
“You get to hide behind all these beautiful artifices, the costumes, the story, but the place I’m drawing from is deeply personal,” she added.
As for her personal life, Lily-Rose was born in 1999, just one year after her parents kickstarted a romance. The exes welcomed Jack in 2002, but their romance ultimately crumbled in 2012.
Speaking about her upbringing in a 2023 interview, the actress said her parents did their best to ensure she and her brother had a “normal” childhood.
“Obviously, still not totally normal, but a sense of normalcy at least, and a sense of childhood and freedom and play and everything,” she said at the time.
