Singer Khalid has come out as gay, saying he made the decision to publicly reveal his sexuality after being outed.

The seven-time Grammy nominee, 26, shared a series of posts on X Friday night, in which the hitmaker said he was neither “ashamed” of being gay or “hiding anything” while noting that his sexuality is “nobodies [sic] business.”

In his first post, Khalid shared a rainbow flag emoji along with three exclamation marks, adding, “there yall go. next topic please lol.”

One person responded to his post, writing “Wait hope Mr Khalid isn’t GEHHH!” That prompted Khalid to quote the reply and add, “I am! And that’s okay.”

The hitmaker then revealed that he was outed.

“I got outted [sic] and the world still continues to turn. Let’s get this straight (lmao) I am not ashamed of my sexuality! In reality it ain’t nobodies business! But I am okay with me,” he wrote along with a black heart emoji and signing the post, “love yall.”

Khalid went on to take issue with the suggestion that he was hiding his sexuality.

“[T]he closet was glass baby. but we accept you. its not about who you love its about your artistry!” a commenter said.

In another post, Khalid replied, “I wasn’t hiding anything! It’s just not any of your business.”

After a fan came to his defense, posting on X that Khalid “didn’t need to TELL nobody,” the singer responded, “thank you!!!! I was never hiding.”

Khalid then signed off, writing in a separate post, “aight love yall thank yall I’m off this.”

Speculation about who outed Khalid grew as soon as he made the startling disclosure. Many fans suggested that rapper and singer Hugo Almonte was responsible. Almonte, 28, who is openly bisexual, shared a photo on X of him and Khalid less than 30 minutes before the latter began posting.

“B–ch ass lied and said that I broke into his house cause I didn’t want him,” Almonte wrote.

The post was the last in a string of messages making derogatory remarks about “One of your favorite gay rappers,” implying that Almonte and the unnamed individual had sexual relations.

Khalid received an outpouring of support online.

“Getting outed is horrible!” one person posted. “I’m sorry you had to go through that! We love and support you!”

Another fan wrote, “Your amazing ! To the person who outted [sic] you they are miserable with themselves, you keep doing you !!”

Named one of Time’s Most Influential People in 2019, Khalid has an impressive record in the music industry. His sophomore album “Free Spirit” debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 has been certified platinum by the RIAA. The title track off that album hit the #3 spot on the Billboard Hot 100, and his previous singles “Location” and “Young Dumb & Broke” climbed to No. 2 and No. 1, respectively on the Billboard Hot R&B Songs chart.
