Kate Middleton and Prince William’s new neighbors are getting ready for the royal family’s upcoming move to Forest Lodge in Windsor after three years at Adelaide Cottage.
But one resident of the nearby Cranbourne Hall Residential Park is concerned for the Prince and Princess of Wales’ privacy amid the move – especially with their three young children, Prince George,12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7.
“I welcome them. But I hope the public allows them to live there quietly as a family,” Jean Reeve, 87, told the Daily Mail over the weekend. “It’s a less private spot than their previous home, from what I know about the location.”
“So I’d hate for people to always be going past and saying, ‘Oh, that’s where they live,’” the neighbor added. “They have young children after all. They deserve privacy.”
Another resident living near Forest Lodge said he is “happy” that William and Kate, both 43, are moving next door.
“It’ll be nice to have some nice neighbours,” Steven Scorgie, 57, told the outlet. “I hope they say the same about me! I’ll invite them in for a cuppa if they want.”
Rose and Norman Noyce, both 85, gushed over the Prince and Princess of Wales, too.
“I’m really happy about it. They’re my favourite royals. I think they’re wonderful people and will make a great King and Queen,” Rose said. “I just hope they don’t mind living near us.”
A spokesperson at Kensington Palace confirmed to Page Six on Aug. 16 that William, Kate and their three children were moving to a new home “later this year.”
It was then reported that at least two households were asked to vacate their homes earlier this summer to make way for the royal family.
“They were told to move out,” an insider told Daily Mail this month. “I guess they were given somewhere else, but they were told they had to move.”
“They were not expecting it,” the source added. “Those houses are very close to the lodge, so they’re not going to want any Tom, Dick or Harry living in those houses if there are going to be royals there.”
Forest Lodge, a Georgian mansion located in Windsor Great Park, boasts a reported $21 million price tag. It is an eight-bedroom property and sits just a stone’s throw away from the Wales family’s current four-bedroom Adelaide Cottage home.
While the royal family moved into their current property in Berkshire in 2022 to be close to their kids’ school, insiders said the pair are now looking for a “fresh start” somewhere new.
“Windsor has become their home,” a source told the Sun earlier this month. “However, over the last few years, while they have lived at Adelaide Cottage, there have been some really difficult times.”
“Moving gives them an opportunity for a fresh start and a new chapter; an opportunity to leave some of the more unhappy memories behind,” the insider added.
William and Kate had just moved into Adelaide Cottage when Queen Elizabeth passed away in September 2022.
Then, last year, the royal family’s difficult times continued when both King Charles and Princess Kate revealed that they had been diagnosed with cancer.
Unlike Adelaide Cottage, the royal couple is said to see the switch to Forest Lodge as a “long-term” move.
Other insiders, however, have questioned William and Kate’s decision to make Forest Lodge their permanent residence – especially as he prepares to take over as monarch.
“How can this be their forever home?” one royal source reportedly asked. “It is not grand enough for a king.”
