Is it too late now to say sorry?
Justin Bieber is eating his words after his wife, Hailey Bieber, appeared on the latest cover of Vogue, published on Tuesday, May 20.
In a bizarre Instagram post, the “Sorry” singer shared his wife’s glamour shots from the highly coveted photoshoot and aired one of their massive marital fights in the process.
Telling his followers that he told Hailey she’d “never be on the cover of Vogue,” Bieber decided to backtrack on his hurtful statement.
“Yo this reminds me when Hailey and I got into a huge fight,” the star captioned his apology post.
“I told hails that she would never be on the cover of Vogue,” Bieber admitted. “Yikes I know, so mean.”
Sharing that he said the words out of spite, the Grammy winner explained that “because I felt so disrespected I thought I gotta get even.”
Bieber didn’t elaborate about what he was disrespected by, but he did share that he’s grown since the situation.
“I think as we mature we realize that we’re not helping anything by getting even,” he continued, “we’re honestly just prolonging what we really want which is intimacy and connection.”
The “Never Say Never” singer ended his apology by issuing a message directly to his wife.
“So baby u already know but forgive me for saying u wouldn’t get a Vogue cover cuz clearly i was sadly mistaken,” Bieber said to Hailey.
While the Biebers’ marriage survived his “mean” remark, fans weren’t so forgiving in the comment section of his post.
“We all love you but this caption is hurtful as hell 😢 Hailey deserves a million Vogue Covers,” one follower responded.
“I would be livid if I was her … not for anything other than the fact that now the world knows he said those things and she still stayed 🫠 No woman deserves that,” a second user wrote.
But not everyone hated on Bieber for publicly owning his mistake.
“Yall acting like u dont say mean things when u get mad😭😭😭Smh it’s not that deep omg leave him alone,” someone wrote in the hitmaker’s defense.
“At least he is honest and not painting his relationship like picture perfect like we often see on social media … as long as he recognizes his mistakes and strive to do better … he is human,” read another comment.
In the Vogue article, Bieber praised Hailey.
“I’ve done a lot of dumb things in my life, but the smartest thing I’ve ever done was marry Hailey,” the musician told the magazine.
“She’s in the spotlight, and has the attention because of her effortless knack for style, business, art and fashion,” he said. “And the way she makes being a mom and wife look easy.”
The model also highlighted her bond with Bieber, revealing he’s helped her deal with online backlash.
“I’ve learned so much from Justin, really,” Hailey shared. “He’s been doing this literally since he was a child and he has had to face the most scrutiny of any person that I know. He was like, ‘Baby, trust me, I’ve been here before many, many times. You’re not going to win. There is no winning.’”
The pair has been bombarded by rumors involving their marriage and Bieber’s health in recent months.
The “Baby” singer has sparked concerns with several alarming posts.
Since February, Bieber has rapped about being “high,” shared a message about feeling like he’s “drowning,” called himself a “selfish” person and admitted he “hurt others unintentionally.”
His rep shut down claims that he’s on drugs, telling TMZ, the speculation is “exhausting and pitiful and shows that despite the obvious truth, people are committed to keeping negative, salacious, harmful narratives alive.”
However, Hailey further fueled the marriage trouble rumors when she attended the 2025 Met Gala solo.
The pair tied the knot in 2018 with a civil ceremony before saying “I do” in a star-studded ceremony the following year.
Bieber and Hailey share one child: 8-month-old son Jack.
