Back to Capeside.
Joshua Jackson, who played Pacey Witter on the hit WB drama “Dawson’s Creek,” shared insight into his friendship with co-star and former girlfriend Katie Holmes, who played his on-screen love interest, Joey Potter.
“Katie and I are very close,” the actor, 46, said while on Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s “Dinner’s on Me” podcast Tuesday.
The exes dated from 1998 to 1999. Jackson went on to have daughter Juno with ex-wife Jodie Turner-Smith. Holmes was married to Tom Cruise for nearly six years; they had daughter Suri Cruise, 19, in 2006.
Jackson is also still friends with Michelle Williams (Jen Lindley), Busy Philipps (Audrey Liddell) and James Van Der Beek (Dawson Leery).
“Busy and Michelle are very, very close,” Jackson added.
“It’s not a daily call. Sometimes it’s not a weekly or monthly or even a half-yearly call, but when you’re together — there’s always that, ‘I know, you know.’ ”
The “Doctor Odyssey” star is also rallying around Van Der Beek, 48, as he battles Stage 3 colorectal cancer.
“James is going through something really truly terrible right now,” Jackson explained. “And I wish I could take credit for this, but I was kind of the absentee partner here, but the girls all got together and were like, ‘We need to do something to help this guy out.’ ”
After having been on the teen drama from 1996 to 2003, the actor made it clear that the group is bonded for life.
“There’s probably no other people in your life that you are that forged to,” Jackson stated. “‘Cause you had to go through good and bad and ‘F–k you’ and ‘Don’t talk to me,’ and ‘I love you.’ ”
The “Fatal Attraction” alum’s comments come on the heels of Philipps, 45, teasing the possibility of a “Dawson’s Creek” reunion.
“We’re really trying to figure something out, but there are a couple of people who have some work things that cannot be moved,” the actress told Us Weekly in March. “It’s like playing chess, trying to get everybody’s schedules to align. I’m very hopeful that at some point we will.”
She added, “Everybody is, and I’m so glad to see and hear from James — and I know he posted on Instagram that he’s feeling well — and we just have all been really sending him every ounce of good wishes and prayers and hoping for the best.”
That same month, Van Der Beek opened up about how the cast originally didn’t stay in contact after the series ended.
“I’ve gotten in touch with them recently and it’s just been so nice,” he shared while on Jana Kramer‘s “Whine Down” podcast at the time.
“It’s just been so great to talk to them and catch up with like who they are now this many years out and to have that shared experience from back in the day,” Van Der Beek noted. “It’s just so lovely every time I get to catch up with one of them.”
After the show ended, the cast went on to star in a slew of new projects, and didn’t keep in close communication.
“We all went our separate ways and just didn’t speak for years because we were just living our lives and doing our things,” Van Der Beek said. “And to just kind of reconnect and be like, ‘Oh, wow, I love who you’ve become.’ ”
The cast reunited for an Entertainment Weekly photo shoot in honor of its 20th anniversary in 2018.
The ’90s series quickly became a cult classic as fans followed Joey as she navigated school after the death of her mother and juggled a love triangle with Dawson and best friend Pacey.
Van Der Beek was happy to move away from the show and pave his own career at first, but these days, he doesn’t mind reminiscing.
“I have such a nostalgia for it,” he gushed. “I don’t know whether it’s just time or what, but yeah.”
