To be a fly on the wall for that conversation.
Jennifer Lopez and Matt Damon were photographed having an intimate chat while holding hands at an afterparty for their new movie, “Unstoppable,” at the Toronto International Film Festival on Friday.
The pair enjoyed alone time amid Lopez’s divorce from Ben Affleck, who has been best friends with Damon, 53, since childhood.
Lopez, 55, stars in “Unstoppable” while Damon and Affleck, 52, produced the film via their production company, Artists Equity.
Affleck did not attend the premiere in Canada.
Lopez had a smile on her face as she held Damon’s hand while they were sitting next to each other at the party.
The “Dance Again” singer wore a silver disco ball dress, while Damon had on a gray suit and black button-up.
An eyewitness told People that the stars chatted for over 20 minutes at the afterparty at the Ritz-Carlton’s EPOCH Bar & Kitchen Terrace.
The source said they “began talking and had a long, deep conversation” that involved them clasping hands and laughing at one point.
Lopez and Damon also posed together on the red carpet for the “Unstoppable” premiere, alongside their co-stars Bobby Cannavale, Don Cheadle and Jharrel Jerome.
Based on an autobiography of the same name, “Unstoppable” follows the story of Anthony Robles, who was born with one leg and went on to win the 2011 college wrestling national championship.
Lopez plays Robles’ mother.
A source told Daily Mail that Lopez was “excited” to go to Toronto for the “Unstoppable” premiere.
“The movie has been getting a lot of attention and Jennifer wants it to do the best it can. She is very professional and always works hard to give her movies their best opportunities,” said the insider.
Production on “Unstoppable” wrapped in January 2024 — three months before Lopez and Affleck officially separated after two years of marriage.
On that day in April — the date of separation listed on Lopez’s Aug. 20 divorce filing — she was in New York filming another movie she’s co-producing with Affleck, “Kiss of the Spider Woman.”
Affleck previously spoke about how much he loved working with Lopez on “Unstoppable.”
“What fun, what a joy to do something with her, see her be great, go to work with your wife, go to work with your best friend,” he told CBS Sunday Mornings in March 2023.
Affleck continued, “If you don’t like who you’re working with, and if you have difficulty or trouble at work, I think it’s one of the things that can really cause depression, anxiety and pain for people… Can’t make it look like she’s doing it as a favor to me, but actually she is.”
Since the divorce filing, Affleck has been laying low in LA, where he recently bought a $20.5 million for himself while the former couple’s $68 million Beverly Hills mansion is up for sale.
The “Argo” actor also enjoyed a night out with Damon and his wife, Luciana Barroso, at a restaurant in LA on Aug. 25. The couple’s children were there, as well.
