It isnβt always easy being friends with a fellow movie star.
Jennifer Lawrence has revealed the βoneβ role she wanted that her bestie, Emma Stone, was ultimately awarded instead.
βThe one that I wanted that she got wasΒ βEasy A,’β the βHunger Gamesβ actress, 35, said during a Q&A session at the 92NY Kaufmann Concert Hall in New York City on Wednesday, per People.
βI was nuts forΒ βEasy A,β and I really should have gotten it, right?β she joked. βThe movie could have turned outΒ great.β
Released in 2010 and directed by Will Gluck, βEasy Aβ starred Stone in her breakout role as Olive Penderghast, a high school student who lies about losing her virginity to a college guy and the fallout that ensues.
A modern adaptation of Nathaniel Hawthorneβs classic 1850 novel βThe Scarlet Letter,β the teen rom-com was both a critical and box office success and earned Stone her first-ever Golden Globe Award nomination.
Elsewhere during the Q&A session in NYC this past week, Lawrence addressed how Stone was recently nominated for a 2026 Actor Award (formerly SAG Award) for her role as Michelle Fuller in the black comedy βBugonia.
Lawrence, however, failed to receive a nomination for her role as Grace in the psychological drama βDie My Love.β
βWe were over in group chat, and she got nominated for a SAG today, and I did not,β the βSilver Linings Playbookβ star shared. βAnd I wrote, like, βWhat?ββ
βAll of our friends were like, βCongratulations, Emma!β And then I would just do, like, a sad face,β she continued. βThen every time sheβs tried to talk today, Iβve just been like, βWhy are you talking and not sorry? If you can talk, why are you not so sorry?ββ
But Lawrence was only teasing Stone and went on to praise the βPoor Thingsβ actress for her impressive career since starring in βEasy Aβ all those years ago.
βNo, sheβs been beating me for decades, and itβs an honor,β she said.
Lawrenceβs breakout role, meanwhile, also came in 2010 when she starred as Ree Dolly in the coming-of-age tragedy βWinterβs Bone.β
She went on to star as Mystique in βX-Men: First Classβ one year later, before being cast as the iconic Katniss Everdeen in βThe Hunger Gamesβ in 2012.
But Lawrence revealed to the Kaufmann Concert Hall audience that she never received any formal acting training, which led her to experience some interesting auditions early in her career.
βI didnβt do, like, classes or lessons, so when I started auditioning, I was just, you know, learning myself and teaching myself with no real feedback,β the Oscar winner shared.
βI wasnβtΒ a good auditioner,β Lawrence added. βBut then every once in a while, you know, you get a callback.β
