This rebel had a cause in Queens.

Tragic Hollywood legend James Dean had a girlfriend in Forest Hills — and a love letter he wrote to her just sold at auction for $32,500.

His 1954 missive to actress Barbara Glenn, complete with its original envelope and photo of his pet horse, were part of RR Auction’s Remarkable Rarities sale on Sept 20.

The two-page love letter was written a year before the simmering “Rebel Without a Cause” actor died in a car accident at the age of 24.

“Given his tragically short life, handwritten letters from James Dean are extremely rare,” Bobby Livingston, executive vice president at RR Auction, told The Post.

“What makes this one so special is that it’s a personal note from Hollywood to his girlfriend — an intimate glimpse of James Dean the person, not just the icon.”

The letter was owned by a European memorabilia collector.

Dean opened the note by saying, “I haven’t written because I have fallen in love,” and then went on to profess his devotion to his Palomino horse named Cisco.

“He shakes hands and everything. May use him in the movie,” he said.

The fledgling actor mailed the letter from Burbank, CA, a month after getting to Hollywood to start filming “East of Eden,” his first major film.

He longed for his NYC sweetheart in the mushy missive.

“I’m very lonely. Your card smelled so good, please don’t do that,” he wrote.

Glenn was introduced to Dean by their mutual friend, actor Martin Landau, in New York City in the early 1950s, when they were both trying to make it in the industry. They dated for two years before he moved to California.

She ended up marrying actor Mark Gordon, and having a son, Keith, who began selling his mom’s letters from her ex-A-lister beau to auction houses.

“It was this weird semi–family secret because my dad was super jealous. I think it was the love of her life. She was a couple of years younger than him, and I think it was her first big romance,” Keith revealed to Closer.

“I had two deathbed requests from my parents. My mom said, ‘Never get rid of the letters,’ and my dad said, ‘Please, whatever you do, get rid of the letters!’ So, I’ve always felt there was no way to win.”
