Jackson Browne’s son, Ethan Browne, has died at the age of 52.
The “Running on Empty” singer took to Facebook to announce the devastating news on Wednesday. He revealed that Ethan was found “unresponsive in his home” on Tuesday morning and passed away shortly after.
“It is with deep sorrow that we share that on the morning of November 25, 2025, Ethan Browne, the son of Jackson Browne and Phyllis Major, was found unresponsive in his home and has passed away,” Jackson, 77, shared.
“We ask for privacy and respect for the family during this difficult time,” he added. “No further details are available at this moment.”
The Post has reached out to Jackson’s rep for further comment.
The “Somebody Baby’s” singer and Phyllis Major welcomed Ethan in 1973.
Although Jackson and Major tied the knot in 1975, their marriage came to a tragic end only a few months later when Major died by suicide in March 1976. She was 30.
Ethan, meanwhile, was famous in his own right.
Besides appearing alongside his singer-songwriter father on the cover of Rolling Stone at just six months old in 1974, he had an impressive career as an actor, model and musician.
After landing a role in the Angelina Jolie thriller “Hackers” in 1995, Ethan went on to star in the 2004 Kate Hudson movie “Raising Helen,” per his IMDb page. He also appeared in a single episode of the “Batman” spinoff series “Birds of Prey” on WB TV in 2002.
Beyond his modest acting career, the “Doctor My Eyes” singer’s son modeled for famous designers like Isaac Mizrahi.
Record producer Mark Ronson, in his 2025 book “Night People,” described Ethan as “the real deal” who had “an angular face and soulful gaze that seemed to reveal his deepest truths, even from a glossy page.”
Jackson, who shares another son, Ryan, 43, with ex-wife Lynne Sweeney, opened up about fatherhood and how he “could have done a lot better” during a candid interview with AARP just a few years before his oldest son’s death.
“Love of our children motivates us to work hard for a future where they’ll be safe and nurtured and will flourish,” he told the outlet in April 2021. “You know, I tried. But I think I could have done a lot better – I have lots of regrets.”
“It’s very difficult to divide your time between the imperatives of a creative life and the awesome responsibility of guiding and caring for the life of a child,” the “Stay” singer added. “And some of the small mistakes are the most difficult to rectify – a seemingly little mistake, but a wrong turn.”
But Jackson acknowledged that his relationships with his two sons were “the most important relationships” he ever had, and the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer later gushed about Ethan during another interview one year later.
“Ethan is a great father. He’s a great son, a great man,” the “These Days” singer told Tru Rock Revival in 2022. “I love seeing him with his kids.”
“When I see him in his movies, modeling, with his daughter, and being such a great dad, it makes me very proud,” Jackson concluded. “It makes me feel I’ve done something really right in my life.”
