Ice-T got a little hot.
The rapper and βLaw and Order: SVUβ star had a heated exchange with law enforcement in New Jersey last May after being pulled over for expired license plates, calling a police officer a βfβking aβhole.β
The verbal altercation was captured on bodycam footage obtained by TMZ and the YouTube channel Unspoken Crime Murders.
In the video, a Hudson County Sheriffβs officer begins begins by telling the rapper that he is being recorded and has been stopped because of a missing front license plate and expired tags (that turn out to have expired in 2021).
Ice-T proceeds to tell the officer that he was on the way to a nearby DMV to update the paperwork on his Porsche, and that he tried to resolve the matter at the DMV the day before but couldnβt because βtheir system was down.β
According to T, the carβs registration wasnβt up to date because it had been βparked.β
βAre you sure?β the cop asks him in the footage.
βYeah, of course Iβm sure,β the rapper responds.
βYesterday I went to the DMV and they said their systemβs down, so thatβs why Iβm here. I got seven cars. Iβm trying to get them all straight.β
When asked by the officer what time his appointment was , the βSVUβ star replies, βI donβt need one,β before adding, βThey know me.β
Prompted to provide his driverβs license, Ice-T admits to the officer that his license is also expired.
βThatβs why Iβm going to the DMV. You have my paperwork. Youβre fine,β he says before trying to persuade the cop to either follow him to the DMV or allow him to park his car where he was stopped and walk to the DMV. The Sheriffβs officer doesnβt agree to either suggestion.
βYou donβt gotta be that serious about this. I mean you can but you donβt have to,β T says in the clip, to which the cop counters, βIt is serious.β
Visibly frustrated, the actor asks the cop if heβs going to βtake me to jail.β
βIβm not going to take you to jail,β the officer assures him before saying heβs going to tow the car.
At that point Ice-T begins to boil. βYouβre not gonna tow my fβking vehicle,β he says.
He continues, βIf Iβm not under arrest, Iβm getting out of the car.β
Exiting the car, the βLaw and Orderβ alum walks to the curb and approaches the law enforcement agent, who warns, βDonβt touch me.β
βGive me my paperwork, you fβking aβhole,β Ice-T tells him. βGive me my fβking paperwork!β
The rapper then addresses the bodycam, looking directly into the lens.
βGet this on camera,β he says. βThis muthafβker. Iβm a foot away from the DMV. Youβre an aβhole!β
The star goes on to record the cop β who he labels a βdumbaββ β on his phone.
With the exchange escalating, backup is called in and cooler heads start to prevail. A sergeant arrives on the scene and brokers a peace between T and the patrol officer, who gives the rapper four tickets β driving with a suspended license, improper display, no inspection sticker, and missing front plates.
The sergeant tells Ice-T that he tried to persuade the officer to reduce the number of citations from four to two, but was unsuccessful.
The Sheriffs then allow Ice-T to leave his car parked while he walks to the DMV to update his license and registration.
The officer who pulled the βSVUβ actor over ends the tense encounter by telling him, βJust next time show some respect.β
But Ice wasnβt feeling chilled, replying, βI donβt have to.β
