Tylor Chase has received some support from one of his former βNedβs Declassified School Survival Guideβ co-stars.
Daniel Curtis Lee, who portrayed Simon βCookieβ Nelson-Cook on the hit Nickelodeon show that ran from 2004 to 2007, took to Instagram on Tuesday to share a video of him and Chase, 36, reuniting on the streets of Los Angeles.
Chase, who played Martin Qwerly on βNedβs Declassified,β made headlines earlier this week when a resurfaced clip from September showed him homeless and living on the streets of Riverside, California.
After reuniting and sharing an emotional embrace, Lee took Chase out to eat at a nearby pizza place. While there, the pair FaceTimed with fellow βNedβs Declassifiedβ alum Devon Werkheiser.
The touching clip ended with Lee checking Chase into a hotel and discussing the possibility of helping the troubled former child star with entering a rehabilitation facility.
βTylor Chase and Cookie reunite with Ned on FaceTime. Well fed and safe from the rain. Hotel secured! One step closer to long term treatment,β Lee, 34, captioned the Instagram clip. βPS: Tylor wants to livestream video games. Who can help?β
Lee previously took to the social media platform on Monday to open up about reuniting with Chase and trying to help his struggling former co-star.
Besides treating him to a hot meal and checking him into a hotel, Lee also revealed that he helped Chase get in touch with his father.
βLove is all we can really give people sometimes, and Iβm happy that he was able to have that connection with his pops,β Lee said during an Instagram reel.
βI really believe we can get Tylor back on his feet and you know Iβm super feeling it right now with the holiday season,β the βZeke and Lutherβ alum added. βHeβs on my heart often, on my mind often.β
Lee, Werkheiser and fellow βNedβs Declassifiedβ alum Daniel Curtis Lee (Moze) previously discussed Chaseβs struggles when the video of him living on the streets first surfaced in September.
The trio addressed the sad clip during their βNedβs Declassified Podcast Survival Guideβ show, and Lee admitted that the footage was βa lot to process forβ him.
βAfter I was angry at the people who were filming it, I was upset with myself in that I feel powerless,β he shared at the time. βI feel like thereβs not much I can do.β
But Lee would not be the first former child star to offer to help Chase as he battles homelessness and suspected drug addiction.
Shaun Weiss, who is most popular for starring as Greg Goldberg in the 1992 hockey flick βThe Mighty Ducks,β also led the charge to help Chase amid his troubles.
βI have received many messages about Tylor Chase. I reached out to some friends of mine, and we have a bed for him at a detox, and we have a place for him to go and get long-term treatment,β Weiss, 47, shared in an Instagram video of his own on Monday.
βAll we need to do now is find him. Iβm not in Los Angeles, or I would go look for him myself,β Weiss, who previously battled addiction, added. βIf anybody could go get a face-to-face with Tylor, please DM me so we can get him some help in time for the holiday.β
Werkheiser, meanwhile, said that he was heartbroken to see his former co-star living on the streets.
βTylor was a sensitive, sweet, and kind kid,β the former Nickelodeon star, 34, told TMZ on Monday. βIt is heartbreaking to see him this way.βΒ
βAnyone who has dealt with severe addiction and deep mental health issues knows itβs an unbelievably challenging situation if they donβt want help,β he continued. βItβs an everyday uphill battle to course correct. It requires a ton of support and patience and time.β
Werkheiser added that he hoped the renewed attention on Chase could lead to a positive change for his former co-star.
βMy only hope is that from this exposure, someone with real understanding and resources can step in, get Tylor into treatment, and help him get back on track,β he concluded. βWe all want a happy ending.β
