It’s not the years, honey, it’s the mileage.
Harrison Ford was spotted breaking a sweat while riding his Cannondale bike up the coastline of Los Angeles on Monday – something he prefers much more than riding the many Disney attractions based on his iconic roles.
The “Indiana Jones” star, 83, sported full cycling gear during his 15-mile cruise from Brentwood to Malibu, including a black helmet, riding goggles, red cycling gloves, compression shorts and a hydration backpack.
Ford was caught staring at the camera in one photo, while another saw the “Star Wars” star pedaling along with waves from the Pacific Ocean breaking onto a beach in the background.
But the Emmy-nominated “Shrinking” star is no stranger to staying active in his older years, even after the small plane crash he endured in March 2015.
Mads Mikkelsen, who co-starred alongside Ford in 2023’s “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny,” opened up about how the “Fugitive” star was an “insanely powerful person” during a chat with The Hollywood Reporter in 2022.
“I remember the first day we were shooting, it was a night shoot, then we stopped at 5 a.m. – and then he got on his mountain bike and went biking for 50 kilometers,” Mikkelsen, 59, said of Ford’s more than 30-mile ride. “Harrison is a monster of a man, a very nice monster.”
Ford previously discussed his love for cycling during an interview with Ellen DeGeneres in 2020.
“No, I don’t work out like crazy. I work out a bit,” he told the TV host at the time. “I ride bikes, and I play tennis.”
More recently, the Oscar-nominated actor talked about the “demands” of physical activity while detailing his experience portraying cowboy and rancher Jacob Dutton in the “Yellowstone” prequel, “1923.”
“I think the demands are not really as daunting as they look,” he told People earlier this year regarding horse riding. “Maybe from a contemporary point of view, the horses represent something – some special skill or danger – but they really are not.”
“I spent half an hour on a horse, and from a contemporary point of view, you look at that, and say, ‘Whoa, people used to do that,’ but it really is not that difficult,” he added.
Ford’s recent bike ride along LA’s coastline, meanwhile, wouldn’t be the first time the “Captain America: Brave New World” star stepped out in public in recent months.
The actor and his wife of 15 years, Calista Flockhart, 60, were photographed riding the New York City subway alongside fellow commuters in March.
They later shared a cute kiss goodbye on the platform before going their separate ways for the day.
As for whether Ford plans to retire from acting anytime soon, he made his intentions clear during a candid chat with Variety in July.
“No,” the Blade Runner” star declared. “That’s one of the things I thought was attractive about the job of an actor, was that they need old people, too, to play old people’s parts.”
