Itβs not the years, honey, itβs the mileage.
Harrison Ford was spotted breaking a sweat while riding his Cannondale bike up the coastline of Los Angeles on Monday β something he prefers much more than riding the many Disney attractions based on his iconic roles.
The βIndiana Jonesβ star, 83, sported full cycling gear during his 15-mile cruise from Brentwood to Malibu, including a black helmet, riding goggles, red cycling gloves, compression shorts and a hydration backpack.
Ford was caught staring at the camera in one photo, while another saw the βStar Warsβ star pedaling along with waves from the Pacific Ocean breaking onto a beach in the background.
But the Emmy-nominated βShrinkingβ star is no stranger to staying active in his older years, even after the small plane crash he endured in March 2015.
Mads Mikkelsen, who co-starred alongside Ford in 2023βs βIndiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny,β opened up about how the βFugitiveβ star was an βinsanely powerful personβ during a chat with The Hollywood Reporter in 2022.
βI remember the first day we were shooting, it was a night shoot, then we stopped at 5 a.m. β and then he got on his mountain bike and went biking for 50 kilometers,β Mikkelsen, 59, said of Fordβs more than 30-mile ride. βHarrison is a monster of a man, a very nice monster.β
Ford previously discussed his love for cycling during an interview with Ellen DeGeneres in 2020.
βNo, I donβt work out like crazy. I work out a bit,β he told the TV host at the time. βI ride bikes, and I play tennis.β
More recently, the Oscar-nominated actor talked about the βdemandsβ of physical activity while detailing his experience portraying cowboy and rancher Jacob Dutton in the βYellowstoneβ prequel, β1923.β
βI think the demands are not really as daunting as they look,β he told People earlier this year regarding horse riding.Β βMaybe from a contemporary point of view, the horses represent something β some special skill or danger β but they really are not.β
βI spent half an hour on a horse, and from a contemporary point of view, you look at that, and say, βWhoa, people used to do that,β but it really is not that difficult,β he added.
Fordβs recent bike ride along LAβs coastline, meanwhile, wouldnβt be the first time the βCaptain America: Brave New Worldβ star stepped out in public in recent months.
The actor and his wife of 15 years, Calista Flockhart, 60, were photographed riding the New York City subway alongside fellow commuters in March.
They later shared a cute kiss goodbye on the platform before going their separate ways for the day.
As for whether Ford plans to retire from acting anytime soon, he made his intentions clear during a candid chat with Variety in July.
βNo,β the Blade Runnerβ star declared. βThatβs one of the things I thought was attractive about the job of an actor, was that they need old people, too, to play old peopleβs parts.β
