Haley Joel Osment explained why he visited Mammoth Lakes, Calif. just a few days before he was arrested on alcohol and drug-related charges.

During an appearance on “The Three Questions with Andy Richter” podcast, the “Sixth Sense” actor, 37, said he decided to visit the ski resort town to give his younger sister Emily Osment, 33, “some privacy” again after staying with her since his house burned down in January during the Altadena wildfire.

Though the interview was released on Tuesday, it was record on Apr. 3 — 5 days before he was arrested on Apr. 8.

After Richter, 58, asked Osment whether his sister was “sick of” him living with her, the star replied, “I think I’m right up to the edge of, like, no matter how well we get along, it’s still somebody in your house when you can’t just like kick back and not have someone there.”

He added, “So I’m I’m taking the dogs up to Mammoth this week and I’m hopefully going to find a place to rent like in the next week or two so that I can give her some some privacy again.”

Osment’s parents stayed with Emily for a period of time, too, as their home was also destroyed in the blaze, the actor said.

“She had all of us there for the first couple of weeks, which is a lot of people all living in the same house for the first time in like 25 years,” he shared.

On Jan. 26, Emily revealed in an Instagram post that her parents’ home was also burned down in the deadly blaze.

“And then I’ve been there, I went to Japan for a while,” Osment continued. “I’ve been taking little trips to give her the house to herself a lot, but also like three dogs in her house is a lot too. As sweet as they are, they can be loud.”

Osment’s trip to Mammoth also came shortly after Emily filed for divorce from Jack Anthony, citing irreconcilable differences. The pair were married for five months and settled days after the “Hannah Montana” actress submitted her petition.

On Thursday, The Post obtained bodycam footage showing Osment disoriented and unable to stand as cops in Mammoth Lakes took him into custody. The “Blink Twice” actor was also heard calling a police officer a “f–king Nazi” and a ” f–king k–e.”

“I’m absolutely horrified by my behavior,” Osment told The Post in response to the bodycam footage. “Had I known I used this disgraceful language in the throes of a blackout, I would have spoken up sooner.”

Referring to losing his house in the Altadena wildfire, the “Pay It Forward” star said, “The past few months of loss and displacement have broken me down to a very low emotional place. But that’s no excuse for using this disgusting word.

“From the bottom of my heart, I apologize to absolutely everyone that this hurts. What came out of my mouth was nonsensical garbage – I’ve let the Jewish community down and it devastates me.”

Osment concluded, “I don’t ask for anyone’s forgiveness, but I promise to atone for my terrible mistake.”

The Mono County, Calif. District Attorney charged Osment with two misdemeanor charges: being under the influence of alcohol in public and possession of cocaine.
