Welcome to the jungle, indeed.
Guns Nβ Roses is clearing up Axl Roseβs recent on-stage meltdown, where the frontman kicked the bandβs drum kit while performing in Buenos Aires on Oct. 18.
The group explained that the 63-year-old rocker was simply frustrated from technical difficulties.
βDuring the opening song at our recent Buenos Aires concert, Axlβs in-ear monitor pack had only the percussion in his ears versus his entire mix,β their statement read via the groupβs Instagram Story on Wednesday. βThe issue was fixed by our tech team by the third song, and we had a great night.β
Guns Nβ Roses clarified that Roseβs anger was not directed at the bandβs drummer.
βThe situation had nothing to do with Isaac Carpenterβs playing, who is top notch and a great drummer,β they concluded.
In footageΒ shared to social media, Rose is singing the 1987 classic tune βWelcome to the Jungleβ when he suddenly kicks Carpenterβs drums and throws his microphone.
Rose later hurls his mic at the drum kit for a second time, before removing his jacket and exiting the stage.
βSo, Iβll just try and wing this,β the musician told the audience before performing again.
Carpenter, 46, replaced drummerΒ Frank Ferrer after his βamicableβ departure from Guns Nβ Roses in March after 19 years.
The group confirmed Ferrerβs exit in a message posted toΒ the groupβs official Instagram page at the time.
βGuns Nβ Roses announce the amicable exit of Frank Ferrer,β the βSweet Child Oβ Mineβ rockers wrote. βThe band thanks Frank for his friendship, creativity and sturdy presence over the past 19 years, and wish him success in the next chapter of his musical journey.β
βThank you, Frank,β the post concluded. βFor the friendship, creativity and sturdy presence over the last 19 years.β
Fans immediately flocked to social media to share their shock.
βOmg I didnβt see that coming,β one person wrote.
βFRANK is so great,β a second Instagram user added. βEveryone will miss him.β
βWe love you Frank,β a third Guns Nβ Roses fan chimed in. βI saw you in Madrid two years ago and you was so fβking incredible.β
βThank you [Frank Ferrer] for all your dedication, hard work, creativity, and presence over these 19 years behind the drums for Guns Nβ Roses,β a fan penned. βIβve heard stories from many fans who met you in person, and you are always described as a kind and amazing person.β
Ferrer, 59, joined founding members Rose,Β SlashΒ andΒ Duff McKaganΒ almost 20 years ago forΒ a show in Dessel, Belgium.
He was originally meant to be a two-week replacement for Bryan βBrainβ Mantia, but by October, he was named the bandβs official drummer.
Carpenter, meanwhile, is known for his work in alternative and hard rock genres.
The rocker also co-founded the group Loudermilk while still in high school. He then went on to be signed to music producer Rick Rubinβs label American.
βCarpenter has made a name for himself by uniquely blending versatility and groove with crushing force and technical skill, cementing his reputation as a multifaceted drummer in the industry,β Guns Nβ Rosesβ statement obtained by The Post read.
Just a few months prior to exiting Guns Nβ Roses, Ferrer opened up about joining the iconic band.
βIβm trying to keep it all inside, but in my mind, itβs like, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, and exploding, of course,β he told My Global Mind. βIt was initially only going to be a temporary thing. It was only going to be for two weeks.
βBut in my heart, I felt like, if I could really do well on this, even if itβs just for two weeks, then it could open up a lot of doors,β Ferrer continued. βSo, I didnβt have any fear. A matter of fact, it was the complete opposite. I felt like, OK, Iβm ready for this.β
