Gary Oldman is here for the Demi Moore renaissance.
The actor, 66, and βThe Substanceβ actress, 62, starred in the 1995 romance historical drama βThe Scarlet Letterβ and, 30 years later, he shared that the pair recently reunited.
βIβve not really been that in touch with her, but I just actually reconnected with her because Iβve seen her recently. She is such a wonderful person, Demi,β Oldman exclusively told The Post at the 2025 Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday. βShe really is very special.β
Moore has been sweeping this yearβs awards season for her role in βThe Substance.β The Hollywood icon has taken home Golden Globe and SAG Awards trophies for best actress for her portrayal of Elisabeth Sparkle in the horror film.
She was also nominated for a BAFTA but lost to βAnoraβ star Mikey Madison and is in the running for her first Oscar at Sundayβs Academy Awards βΒ a feat that Oldman is thrilled about.
βI couldnβt be happier for her in this moment with this film and this role,β he continued. βI think itβs such a wonderful thing. And sheβs loving it and really riding the wave.β
Oldman was also nominated at the 2025 SAG Awards for best actor in a drama series for his role in the Apple TV+ thriller βSlow Horses.β
When asked how βThe Dark Knightβ vet prepared to properly portray the notorious Jackson Lamb, the boss of a dysfunctional team of MI5 agents, Oldman said it was simple.
βTo tap in, I read the books,β he shared at the SAG Awards. βEverything you want to know about the characters, everything you want to know about the world of βSlow Horsesβ is really there on the page. For those who have only seen the show and are fans of the show, then I would recommend picking up a Mick Herron book.
βThe writing is so good; itβs your map of the world. All the signposts are there; you just follow them.β
Oldman is the king of transformation, portraying Count Dracula in 1992βs βBram Stokerβs Draculaβ and Winston Churchill in the 2017 war thriller βDarkest Hour,β and told The Post who heβd love to play next.
βThatβs a hard one,β he said. βIβve played so many. Maybe another president.β
Meanwhile, inside the coveted ceremony, which was streamed on Netflix, Moore nabbed the best actress accolade and shared a moving speech during her acceptance.
βI am so, so grateful that I have continued over these so many years to be able to try, and sometimes succeed, and sometimes fail, but to be able to keep going,β she began.
Moore then told the story of becoming a member of the Screen Actors Guild in 1978 at just 15 years old.Β
βIt changed my life because it gave me meaning, it gave me purpose and it gave me direction,β she recalled. βI was a kid on my own who had no blueprint for life, and I certainly knew nothing about acting. But I watched, and I learned and I listened from all of you. You have all been my greatest teachers.
βAnd so, as these young actors who are having to do it all, I just encourage you, donβt lose sight of the human connection. Thatβs the work that we do, itβs to be connected with one another.β
After winning her first Golden Globe in January, in her acceptance speech, she recalled a producer calling her βa popcorn actressβ at the beginning of her career β and her daughters, Scout, Tallulah and Rumer Willis, shared their admiration for their mom.
βWhat a gift to witness you shine and be acknowledged not only for the incredible work you did in this film but in the multitude of staggeringly breathtaking work your entire career,β Rumer, 36, wrote on her Instagram story at the time. βThis is just the beginning.β
