David Harbour is finally talking about the alleged demise of his marriage.
The βThunderboltsβ actor, 50, broke his silence on rumors that he split from wife Lily Allen in an interview with GQ Hype published Wednesday.
βIβm protective of the people and the reality of my life,β Harbour told the reporter, after taking a long pause before addressing the status of his marriage.
βThereβs no use in that form of engaging [with tabloid news] because itβs all based on hysterical hyperbole,β he said, adding that he doesnβt want to encourage βa salacious sβtshow of humiliationβ by speaking on the topic.
Harbour, who is gearing up for the final season of βStranger Things,β told GQ later in the interview that βthereβs a lot of changeβ in his life right now.
βA tremendous amount of change. And I think in that world, you have two paths,β he explained. βYou can deny this change, be afraid of this change, you can kind of be chaotic about it and, like, eat your way through β whatever you need to do. Or you can sit with however uncomfortable, or weird, or new, it makes you feel.β
βAnd then, for me, always the best thing that I can do is take all of that experience and pour it into work, because my experience, no matter how awful or great, will always be useful to someone else if itβs channelled through art,β Harbour went on. βI can always be of use. And so thatβs what Iβm doing.β
Harbour married the British singer, 31, in 2020 in Las Vegas.
Their marriage made Harbour stepdad to Allenβs daughters Ethel, 13, and Marnie, 11,Β whom she shares with ex-husband Sam Cooper.
Rumors emerged in December that the couple split after Harbour was allegedly spotted on the dating app Raya, according to the Daily Mail. In February, the βBlack Widowβ star later attended the Critics Choice Awards and the βSaturday Night Liveβ 50th anniversary special without his wedding ring.
Allen has not directly addressed her rumored split from Harbour, though she did say she was βspiralingβ on a January episode of her βMiss Me?β podcast.
βI know Iβve been talking about it for months, but Iβve been spiraling and spiraling and spiraling and itβs got out of control,β she shared.
The βSmileβ singer added, βI just canβt concentrate on anything except the pain that Iβm going through. Itβs really, really hard.β
The following month, Allen said on her podcast she was in a βstronger placeβ after being in a treatment program for multiple weeks.
βI just feel very grateful to have been given the time and the space that I needed,β she explained. βI went into a sort of treatment center for a few weeks, which was great. I did a lot of group therapy and some individual therapy and I needed some time and space away from everything.β
Allen also said that sheβs on βa lifelong journey of healingβ and has taken up meditation.
