Dave Grohl threw a monkey wrench in his relationship with his wife, Jordyn Blum, years before he put a ring on it.
The Foo Fighters frontman, 55, ghosted Blum after a few dates until his late bandmate Taylor Hawkins’ 2001 overdose convinced him to settle down. Hawkins tragically died more than 20 years later after fatally overdosing in 2022 at 50.
It’s the latest unearthed revelation following Grohl’s brutal admission that he cheated on Blum and has welcomed a daughter with another woman.
“I’ve recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage,” Grohl shared in a statement via Instagram on Tuesday. “I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her. I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness.”
“We’re grateful for your consideration toward all the children involved, as we move forward together,” he concluded.
Grohl’s rep told The Post that the musician had no additional comment.
While Grohl, Blum, 48, and their three children: daughters Violet, 18, Harper, 15, and Ophelia, 10, appear to be a united front amid the baby bombshell, the musician wasn’t always on board with becoming a family man.
In a drudged-up interview with Q magazine, Grohl revealed he stopped calling Blum after only a few dates.
“I met Jordyn one night in 2001. Taylor [Hawkins] and I were hanging out at the Sunset Marquis whiskey bar. Taylor was the looker. I mean, girls would send him drinks. Some bombshell comes up and starts talking to Taylor. I was just out of a Tenacious D session. I’ve got Vans trainers on, no socks, dirty shorts and a dirty T-shirt, surrounded by beautiful Hollywood,” Growl told the outlet.
“She waved her friend Jordyn over. I was like, ‘Oh my God. Not a chance!’ So I’m just having some drinks and acting like a jackass. And by the end of the night I was pissed and I’m staring at her going, ‘You’re my future ex-wife,’” he laughed. “So she gave me her number: ‘Jordyn, your future ex-wife.’”
While Grohl admitted they “saw each other a few times” after the encounter, the ex-Nirvana drummer said he quickly realized she was endgame and “backed out.”
When asked if it was because he was “burned” by his first marriage — Grohl wed photographer Jennifer Youngblood in 1994, and they were divorced by 1997 — the musician replied, “No, because I wasn’t ready for the flag. And then we were in London [in August 2001, before the V festival] and Taylor wound up in hospital. He did some drugs and OD’ed.”
In 2007, he told Elle, “I wasn’t ready for a serious relationship, so I just stopped calling.”
After Hawkins got out of the hospital following the 2001 overdose, Grohl said he went back to his hotel room and saw a familiar face on his TV screen.
“So I was sitting watching the snooker or something and this commercial comes on for chewing gum – this girl walking through the subway pickpocketing people. All of a sudden I think, ‘That’s that girl Jordyn, that’s that chick!’ Grohl told Q. “And over the course of the next few days I start having these dreams about that life that I’d been thinking about, settling-down dreams.”
The musician said within two weeks, his “changed forever.”
“I thought, ‘I’m not waiting one more minute because life’s too f—ing short, man. It’s too delicate,’” he explained. “The day we got home I called her up and she said, ‘Wow, I never thought I’d hear from you again.’ So I took her to a restaurant right next door to here. And that was that.”
Grohl and Blum married in August 2003 at their L.A. home. Their oldest child has deactivated her Instagram account since her dad came clean about his affair and baby scandal.
Grohl and Blum didn’t appear to indicate trouble was brewing inside their marriage in recent months. They were spotted at the Wimbledon tennis tournament in July, just weeks before his bombshell announcement.
