If Britney Spears wants to dance in lingerie, that’s her prerogative.
The pop star, 43, took to social media on Friday to share a slew of selfies while wearing a see-through black lace negligee and red thong.
Spears wore her blonde hair down as she posed for the camera with a sultry look on her face. In one shot she was seen cupping her breasts while sporting a mischievous grin.
The mother-of-two is no stranger to sharing dance videos to her social media account, including one that saw her holding knives.
Beneath the raunchy images, Spears seemingly chimed in on the casting of her upcoming biopic, captioning the Instagram post, “Definitely a character because that’s not me !!! But wait shit it does kinda look like me 🤔🤔🙄🙄 !!! Just kidding !!!”
It was announced in April 2024 that Jon M. Chu would be developing a biopic on the artist at Universal, along with “Wicked” producer Marc Platt, after the studio acquired rights to her 2023 memoir, “The Woman in Me.”
Spears shared the news on X at the time, writing, “Excited to share with my fans that I’ve been working on a secret project with #MarcPlatt. He’s always made my favorite movies … stay tuned.”
Ever since, fans have chimed in with who they think would be a perfect fit. Actress Olivia Holt, a former Disney star, has been touted as a potential lead.
In February, the 27-year-old chimed in on the potential casting.
“I would be so honored to play Britney,” Holt told Variety at the premiere of horror/comedy movie “Heart Eyes.”
“I’m just so grateful to be in the running and around so many names and talent who are in the running for it,” she continued. “Just the idea that I am on people’s minds to play something as iconic as this, would be a dream.”
Holt also named her favorite songs by Spears while on the carpet.
“I could go way back and we can do a little ‘I’m Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman.’ That’s kind of my favorite,” the star shared. “But I also love the ‘Circus’ era. There are so many eras of Britney. How could you choose?”
As for other names thrown into the hat? Sabrina Carpenter, Millie Bobby Brown, Ariana Grande, and Addison Rae.
Brown, 21, chimed in on the buzz as well, telling Access Hollywood in February, “I mean, she is an absolute icon. I would love nothing more than to be a part of her story.”
But Chu, 45, shut down rumors, telling fans on X that casting had not begun yet.
“None of this is true,” Chu replied to speculation about Grande, 31, Carpenter, 25, and Brown being in the running. “Sounds exciting but have not had one conversation about casting this movie yet. We are way too early in development. Sorry.”
Spears’ memoir sold over 2.5 million copies in the United States after release. In the book, she chronicled her journey to fame starting from her days on the “Mickey Mouse Club” days through her recent conservatorship case.
