Ben Affleck has said all there is to say about his split from Jennifer Lopez.
The “Flash” actor, 52, is reportedly “done” talking about Lopez, 55, just days after he finally broke his silence on their surprising 2024 divorce.
“He’s done talking about JLo,” a source close to Affleck told People on Friday, March 28. “He’s not proud that their marriage didn’t work out. He didn’t want to hurt her. But now he wants to just focus on his kids and work.”
“He thrives when he’s busy,” the insider added.
Affleck shares children Violet, 19, Seraphina, 16, and Samuel, 13, with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner, 52. He also has several big projects coming up – including “The Accountant 2” on April 25.
The source’s remarks come after the “Deep Water” actor opened up about his and Lopez’s split for the first – and apparently only – time during an interview with GQ for their April cover story.
Affleck told the magazine that his “life is actually pretty drama-free” and that he holds “nothing but respect” for Lopez. He also said that there is “no scandal” surrounding the pair’s breakup after only two years.
“I guess there’s a tendency to look at breakups and want to identify root causes or something,” the Oscar-winning actor explained. “But honestly, like I said, the truth is much more quotidian than probably people would believe or would be interesting.”
“There’s no scandal, no soap opera, no intrigue,” he added.
Affleck also emphasized that there was “no big event” that led Lopez to file for divorce in August 2024.
“The truth is, when you talk to somebody, ‘Hey, what happened?’ Well, there is no: ‘This is what happened,’” the “Air” star said. “It’s just a story about people trying to figure out their lives and relationships in ways that we all sort of normally do.”
“And as you get older, this is true for me, I assume it’s true for most people, there is no ‘So-and-so did this’ or ‘This was the big event,’” he continued. “It’s really, it sounds more like a couple’s therapy session, which – you would tune out of someone else’s couple’s therapy after a while.”
According to the insider, Affleck is “doing well” nearly three months after he and Lopez finalized their divorce on January 6. They also said that Affleck’s GQ interview was “kind of all about clearing the air one last time.”
As for Lopez, she addressed the end of Bennifer 2.0 for the first time back in October during a sit-down with Interview Magazine.
Although she admitted the split “almost took me out for good,” the star said she had no regrets about the marriage and subsequent divorce.
“That doesn’t mean it didn’t almost take me out for good. It almost did,” the “On the Floor” singer said. “But now, on the other side of it, I think to myself, ‘F–k, that is exactly what I needed. Thank you, god. I’m sorry it took me so long. I’m sorry that you had to do this to me so many times.’”
“I’m not looking for anybody,” Lopez added, “because everything that I’ve done over the past 25, 30 years, being in these different challenging situations, what can I f–king do when it’s just me flying on my own.”
Affleck and Lopez reunited in 2021 after breaking up nearly 20 years earlier. The “Justice League” actor popped the question in April 2022, and the pair married that July.
The “If You Had My Love” hitmaker then filed for divorce from Affleck in August 2024. It was finalized in January.
