Heβs not having it.Β
Oscar winner Jon Voight, 85, who is the father of Angelina Jolie, is speaking out about her messy divorce from Brad Pitt.Β
βI wish theyβd find a way to make peace,β Voight told Fox News Digital in an interview published Friday.Β
βYou know, I think the kids need some stability,β he went on. βI love the kids, and I love my daughter. And I want Brad to step up to do, you know, what he has to do. End this nonsense.β
Pitt, 60, and and Jolie, 49, began dating after starring in the 2005 action comedy βMr. & Mrs. Smith.β They officially tied the knot in 2014 and separated in 2016. Although they were declared legally single by a judge in 2019, they are still fighting over custody of their children, division of assets and their winery.
For nearly eight years since they first separated in 2016, Jolie and Pitt have beenΒ locked in a legal battleΒ over the sale of their French winery, ChΓ’teau Miraval, after the actress offloaded her share for $67 million in 2021.
βAll the bitterness is partly why the divorce has dragged on for so many years. Neither will let it go,β an insider told People magazine in July. βYouβd think they would be over it and just settle.β
Jolieβs lawyer Paul Murphy toldΒ Page SixΒ on July 17 that Pitt βhas control of all the properties the couple shared as well as control of the business, but still he demands more, and is suing Angelina for $67 million plus punitive damages.β
They also had a messy custody battle over their kids, Maddox, 23, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 16.Β
Jolie filed for divorce in 2016 after after an alleged violent argument on a plane.
According to records at the time in 2016, Jolie said that the βFight Clubβ star, who had been allegedly drinking, took her to the restroom, where he βgrabbed her by the head, shaking her,β during an argument about their kids.
In 2017, Pitt revealed to GQ Style that he had an alcohol problem that led to the demise of his marriage.
According to a filing in April, an NDA that Pitt allegedly proposed to Jolie would cover his βpersonal misconduct, whether related to Miraval or not,β in an attempt to prevent her from speaking on his alleged abuse.
Jolieβs lawyers alleged that Pitt wanted her to βcontractually bind herselfβ to silence after he learned in 2021 that she submitted a sealed filing. This filing included βemails, summaries of the familyβs expected testimony and other evidenceβ to help settle their child custody dispute.
A friend of Pittβs told The Post in April that the allegations against the βOceanβs Elevenβ actor were βmisleading, inaccurate and/or irrelevant informationβ that were being used βas a distraction.β
In 2022, Jolie was granted sole physical custody of her children who were still minors at the time, such as Shiloh.Β Pitt was allowed βcustodial timeβ with his minor children.
In August, Shiloh legally dropped Pittβs last name.Β
A judge signed off on legally changing Shilohβs name from Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt to Shiloh Nouvel Jolie, per a court ruling obtained by TMZ.
Zahara was the first of the children to make the change last November when she shouted βZahara Marley Jolieβ at her Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority induction ceremony.
βI separated for the well-being of my family. It was the right decision,β Jolie told Vogue India in a 2020 interview. βI continue to focus on their healing.β
The βTomb Raiderβ actress added: βSome have taken advantage of my silence, and the children see lies about themselves in the media, but I remind them that they know their own truth and their own minds. In fact, they are six very brave, very strong young people.β
