“American Idol” alum Doug Kiker has died at 32.

“The cause and manner of death are pending investigation.”
His ex-fiancée, Valerie Cook, told TMZ that she hates that her kids lost their father.
His family, meanwhile, started a GoFundMe after Kiker’s death.
“It is with heavy hearts that we have to say goodbye to one of the most sincere souls and most hilarious person of all. Douglas, a beloved son, brother, father and friend,” his loved one’s message read.
“We are now left with the difficult task of bringing him home and covering funeral expenses,” the post continued. “We are reaching out for help to honor Douglas’s memory and give him a proper farewell. Any contribution, no matter the amount, will go directly to the funeral costs and allow us to navigate this difficult time without the added financial burden.
“Thank you for your love, support, and generosity during this incredibly difficult time. We greatly appreciate each and every one of yall.”
Evans also shared on social media that her brother’s death was “completely unexpected,” noting about the GoFundMe: “We are completely unprepared and are gonna need a little help getting him home from denver colorado and being able to give the memorial that not only he but anyone deserves.”
Evans addressed those who lent their support, adding, “Thank you for the continued prayers at this very difficult time, lord knows we have been through so much these past few years! Douglas Kiker you will live forever in our hers. I miss you soooo.”
Kiker’s brother William also shared a heartfelt message on Facebook.
“Dear brother I just want you to know that know matter where you are you will always be my baby brother I know you are finally at piece I just wish I had more time with you so until I can see you again say hey to bubba for me and tell him I love him rest in peace Douglas Kiker my baby brother.”
Kiker auditioned for “American Idol” during Season 18, in front of judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan. He sang the Rascal Flatts classic “Bless the Broken Road.”
He made it to Hollywood but was eliminated after that round following a performance of Marvin Gaye‘s “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.”
During his audition, Kiker shared he had no prior singing experience, to which Richie asked him to go warm up and then come back.
Host Ryan Seacrest then took him outside to a restaurant to perform in front of a group of strangers. After he came back, Richie asked him once more how much experience he had.
Kiker replied, “I have some experience now.”
Bryan then hopped on the piano as Kiker performed. Perry was brought to tears while Richie went up to Kiker and said, “I don’t know about you guys, but I want us all to let you know, you’re a hell of a man.”
