The “Clueless” star, 47, recorded herself eating a piece of fruit that has since been identified as poisonous, leading fans to express their concerns for the actress’ well-being.
In her TikTok video shared Monday, Silverstone explained that she’s “discovered something that I can’t figure out what it is and I need your help.”
“I just bit into it because it was on the street and we were discussing whether this was a tomato or not,” she continued while showing off the piece of fruit to the camera.
Silverstone, who is vegan, said the fruit is “definitely not” a tomato because of the leaves on the plant.
“So, what the heck is this? Because, when you open it up it looks like that,” she said, showing a squashed fruit on the ground before biting into the piece in her hand.
“And if I bite it — I don’t think you’re supposed to eat this, but it’s almost like a pepper?” Silverstone said. “Does anyone know what this is? I need someone to tell me. I’m in England. Thank you.”
Fans quickly identified that the fruit Silverstone ate was a Jerusalem cherry.
According to Medline Plus, the Jerusalem cherry is poisonous and primarily affects the gastrointestinal and central nervous system. Poisoned symptoms include abdominal pain, diarrhea, fever, hallucinations, headache and paralysis.
Silverstone, who has over 4 million followers on TikTok, has yet to post on social media since eating the fruit.
“can someone tag me when we know she’s OK,” one fan wrote in the comments of the video.
“Is Alicia ok??? We need an update!” another fan said.
“WOMAN! UPDATE US. ARE YOU ALIVE AND WELL!?!” a different comment read.
A fourth fan wrote, “AAM. It’s been 7 HOURS 😳 are you okay?? Cause like you took most of the second one down.”
Other fans criticized Silverstone for eating the alleged poisoned fruit.
“Even my kids know not to do this Alicia,” one person said.
“That’s called a it’s not yours. You shouldn’t touch it,” someone else wrote.
Another user said, “who just picks something they don’t know what it is and eats it.”
A different fan said Silverstone is “clearly clueless,” referencing her iconic 1993 movie.
The Post has reached out to Silverstone’s rep for comment.
Silverstone became a vegan in 1998. She released a vegan cookbook in 2009 called “The Kind Diet,” where she promoted a plant-based diet.
In 2022, Silverstone said in an interview on the “Simply Vegan Podcast” that becoming vegan “changed my life.”
“It was the best thing that ever happened to me,” she added.
