A$AP Relli is speaking publicly for the first time since a Los Angeles jury declared on Tuesday that A$AP Rocky was not guilty of assaulting his fellow rapper.
Rocky was charged with two felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon stemming from an alleged 2021 altercation with Relli, a former pal. Rocky faced up to 24 years in prison if convicted.
Two days after members of the jury reached their verdict following a nearly four-week trial, Relli spoke out on social media.
“Gossiping is a form of entertainment for people who have no meaningful goals or purpose in life,” Relli wrote on his Instagram Story Thursday. “Hate me, bring shame to my name, say bad things about me, I don’t care.”
“Your existence doesn’t add any value in my life,” Relli added alongside a praying emoji.
Relli and Rocky once boasted a close friendship when they belonged to A$AP Mob — a hip-hop collective formed in 2006 in Harlem.
Other group members, all of whom are New York creatives with A$AP monikers, include rapper A$AP Ferg and the late A$AP Yams, who died 26 in 2015.
Rocky was accused of firing a handgun and wounding Relli during an argument in the Hollywood area on Nov. 6, 2021, Los Angeles police said.
Speaking in court during his closing argument, Rocky’s lawyer, Joe Tacopina, eviscerated Relli, calling him “an angry pathological liar” who “committed perjury again and again and again and again.”
After their major victory, Rocky praised his legal team and thanked jurors for “saving my life” as he left the courtroom.
“This whole experience has been crazy for the past four years,” Rocky told reporters moments after the verdict was read aloud. “I’m thankful and it’s blessed to be here right now to be a free man talking to y’all.”
Rocky’s longtime partner, nine-time Grammy winner Rihanna, rushed to social media to celebrate the trial’s outcome.
“THE GLORY BELONGS TO GOD AND GOD ALONE,” Rihanna, 37, wrote to her 150 million followers on Instagram of Rocky, with whom she has two sons, RZA, 2, and Riot, 1.
“THANKFUL, HUMBLED BY HIS MERCY!”
